An interesting conversation is where the line is drawn between "valued" art and poop piles. And art or entertainment. I would contend that sports is mostly entertainment. For example, how many people discuss the 1997 NFL season? Not many. Or how many times do you see the 1988 Superbowl re-created? Never. There are certain sports events which I would elevate to art, however, such as the 1980 US hockey team. So it's not to say that art can't evolve from sports, just that, in general, sports is intended as entertainment not art. So "art" is really a mood altering work that therefore captures the human condition. Some forms are easier to interact with such music. And since we all have such vast experience with music, it's much easier to tell the good stuff from the bad stuff. For example, I'm not a fan of country music, but I know good vs. bad country music when I hear it. I can't say the same about, say, paintings. I don't have enough experience with them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:188883 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
