we let rocky, our pit, run around in the backyard without a leash only at night and only if its really late, like 12 or 1 am. other than that, you are right, he is a dog, and a little kid running around, or an animal like a cat will snag his attention. now, that doesnt mean i cannot yell and he will stop and cower at my feet, however, the chance for him to maim someone is just too high.
