Because politicians are business men, lobbyists are their employers,
and demagoguery is their business.

Unfortunately it seems that most people in this country are
susceptible to the demagogic business model (the new snake oil).  Take
Rush Limbaugh for example.  He's probably the most laughably blatant
example:

"Frieeennnndddsss ... can yooouuu believvvveee ... what the
liberaaallllsss ... are saying todaaayyy?  They just don't get it do
theeeeyyyy?"

It's textbook propaganda: you convince people there's a threat to
their lifestyle (the problem), that there are 2 sides and that they
are on the good side, and that your ideas are the solution to the
problem.

People fall for this crap.  Look at all of the Limbaugh/Hannity
listeners there are.

(In Limbaugh's case you get jacked up on goofballs which helps your
paranoid conspiracy theory sound more sincere.)
