Well, I wouldn't say that. I think there's a lot of merit to some of the things he says. Take, for example, this quote: "All I'm asking is that we give our returning soldiers what they need: hospitals, pensions, mental health and a safe, immediate return."
I can get behind that, or at the least, I can sympathize with the sentiment, even if it is a little simplistic. I also understand the intent of the following statement: "But, please, no parades." He's saying that effusive support for the troops can far too easily come across as support for the war. What I can't get behind are statements like this: "The truth is that people who pull triggers are ultimately responsible, whether they're following orders or not." I'd argue that instead, we as citizens are all ultimately responsible. We elected the leaders that made the decision to go to war.
