Hehe, every once in awhile I stop and think things through. I don't know if it's a good idea to be doing anything else, I think it's a bad idea. Overall, what are the options? I have no idea, and I don't think anyone in charge does either. We can keep going down the UN road, but that is almost guaranteed to fail. We can just let them get nukes and concentrate on containment, but I don't think Israel will ever settle for that plan. Their entire existence is at stake. So basically the whole situation sucks. I don't think that our goals are always altruistic, but I think overall as a country (public and private) we do a decent job of balancing things out.
I disagree about Iraqis not wanting to be liberated. The Shiites and Kurds have wanted out from under the thumb of the Sunnis forever. I really don't know about Afghanistan either but my impression is that things have been more successful, but more limited, than in Iraq.
