If Libby's version is the truth, there is certainly an argument to be made
that it was unethical, but as Sam pointed out, everything Joe Wilson did
proceeded from an unethical act- failing to disclose his wife's connection
to his trip. His assertion, of course, is that she was a secret agent and he
could not disclose the connection without exposing her. In and of itself, I
believe his use of the law as a defense for disclosing his conflict of
interest is unethical. And that's what makes this case so interesting- it
shows how the world of politics and media really work.
