Not a 'best man' speech... but when I was maid of honour for my sister's
wedding in 2003, keeping in mind she is a HUGE Canucks fan and I'm a HUGE
Oilers fan (yeah, don't even get me started), the Canucks and Oilers were
playing the last game of the season against each other -that night-. My
speech started with: "When I agreed to be the maid of honour for Jenna, it
never occurred to me that she would schedule her wedding on the last day of
the NHL season when the Canucks are playing the Oilers... Anybody know the
score?"

I got score updates ALL night from people calling friends and relatives that
weren't at the wedding! :)

My baby sister (18 at the time) gave a toast as well that ended with 'I hope
it works out!'. She meant it in the most innocent way... But it elicited a
LOT of blank and aghast stares from the audience. :)

So...I'm the best man in a wedding tomorrow, and I need advice. How does
one come up with a toast when you're a) not sure that the groom is
*really* happy, just marrying because he was finally beaten down enough and
b) you really can't stand the bride?

I've been racking my brain all week long trying to figure out what I'm going
to say and I have zero idea.
