61% of the population voted, out of that 61% approximately 50-54% voted for Bush, which means that approximately 30% of the population at large voted for Bush. So your logic isn't valid. The Religious Right is and always has been a very vocal minority. Every opinion poll on this issue has shown 80% plus support for funding stem cell research.
