>>Assuming that all is true:

>>1) Apparently, the Religious Right won the election, meaning there are
more
>>of them than you, and therefore the Pres is accurately representing the US

61% of the population voted, out of that 61% approximately 50-54% voted for
Bush, which means that approximately 30% of the population at large voted
for Bush. So your logic isn't valid. The Religious Right is and always has
been a very vocal minority.

Every opinion poll on this issue has shown 80% plus support for funding stem
cell research. The president has let his own personal opinion override the
will of the people. I don't think this is right.

>>2) He's assisting his fellow Republicans. Don't all politicians do this?

Yes

>>3) Not quite sure what you mean by that.

The there was an large majority in Congress that voted for this bill. Thus
the GOP candidates can distance themselves from an unpopular president. This
deflates the Dems ability to point and say "he voted with the president".

>>Regardless, isn't it possible to respectfully disagree? Hate the
>>decision,
>>respect the opinion?

We can, but again, the will of the people has been ignored in this issue. He
has a right to his own beliefs, but no right to push those beliefs off on
the American people as law.
