But why does that specify a need for religion?  Just because a person is 
religious, doesn't make them a devil-worshiping, moral-less heathen. 
I'd agree that there are heartless souls out there that would do the 
things that you are referring to, but I don't see how religion comes 
into play there.  I *would* say that religion does help one's moral 
compass stay true, but it's just one way.  It's just a matter of knowing 
what's right from wrong.

Bah - I don't know how to say what I'm trying to get at, but hopefully 
you get my gist.
