I don't think religion keeps one's moral compass any more straight than without religion. Aren't the terrorists very religious? How much more religious can you get than a catholic priest? I knew some people who attended church and bible study regularly, but had no qualms about filling up all of their personal cars on in addition to the business car on the business card. The "Christians aren't perfect, they're just forgiven" bumper sticker really brings it home to me. I really don't think they're trying to be perfect, or even christian most of the time.
