How do you have diplomacy with a group who is dedicated to your destruction and has proven it time and again with unprovoked attacks? Bottom line. If a snake keeps trying to kill you your choice is to go away, die or kill the snake. Are you willing to move every time someone says they want what you have? How far are you willing to go because you choose one of the other options? Israel has gone as far as it could and dying is not an option.
I know your looking at it from a sociological point of view as to the result of all this but that doesn't matter. It's live or die.
