Well, the apostle Thomas, of "Doubting Thomas" fame, spent his life
seeking "The Truth" and thereby revealing "The Light" eventually dying
in India.

This concept truth seeking (gnosticism) was dismissed out of hand by
especially John. Many Biblical scholars agree that the Gospel of John
was intentionally canonized with Matthew, Mark, and Luke because it
firmly disagreed with Thomas. John said the "The Light" could only be
attained through the worship of Jesus and God.

So, from the original apostles, you've got 2 broad paths: Gnosticism
or religion.

Religion is the easy path: read the Bible, do what the church tells
you, and if there are any conflicts "have faith" and believe what we
tell you.

The Truth is much more difficult: study the Bible as literature, world
religions, science, physics, for your entire life. What do you
discover? What is The Truth?

That's a lot of work. It's much easier to just say, "well, who know
.... have faith."
