I've done that for years! My first professor was a Jew, btw. Brutal
final from him too, one that I'll never forget. It had one question:
Summarize Biblical events from Abraham to Jesus. That was it. 4
hours. (that's the entire Torah).

I've yet to find "an expert" that can answer my questions. That's
because it's philosophy, not science. All "experts" know is a bunch
of history that they use to draw a line to a conclusion. Not
surprisingly all their lines end up in different places.

The truth is, there's no good answers for those that seek one; which
is why I'm Gnostic. This is as close as I've read:

http://www.amazon.com/Bit-Pendulum-Computing-Theory-Information/dp/0471399744/sr=8-1/qid=1165351747

"Have scientists really discovered, in information, the world's true
foundation? The power of the metaphor is inseparable from the quest
for scientific truth."

WARNING: Heavy talk follows:
--------------------------------------------
An extrapolation of this book could be that we, collectively, are God.
It details repeatable experiments where, somehow, nature shows us the
outcome we want to see. (e.g., if we want to see light as a wave,
it's a wave. If we want to see it as a particle, it's a particle.)

And how if you zoom in below the Planck Length on your hand, the desk,
or a snow flake you'll see everything and nothing.

That is, maybe the universe exists because we want it too.
