Well when I tried to install SQL Server 2000 on my XP MCE machine, it said I
could not do that. I pulled out my old laptop that is running XP Pro and I
was able to install it just fine. So that tells me they are not quite the
same.

And I hear ya on the upgrade. These are beta testers who probably install
and re-install OS's on a regular basis. Who knows what condition their
machine was in prior to upgrade. I was just annoyed at the fact that I have
to have my OS on the system prior to upgrade rather than just have the
install disk in hand and go from there. Oh well, a minor inconvenience that
will not get me to cough up extra $$ for a full version.
