I guess I am flying my hippie flag today.  =)  The conversation is passing
the time, so I'll continue...

A "cost of war" to me is when something goes wrong, there is an unavoidable
accident, friendly fire, etc.  When one side makes a conscious decision to
slaughter thousands, I don't see how that can be considered a "cost of war".
That sounds like the cost of us being fed up and wanting to ditch the
quagmire of a mess that we started.
