Where do you get this 30% thing? It ran just like it was supposed to. It was responsive, it may have been pirated or leaked, but that doesn't mean it didn't work correctly.
I don't understand how the same files would run differently without the Apple logo on the outside. It ran the apps that it came with fine. The things that didn't work correctly were things like the version of Safari with Tiger didn't support Kerberos Authentication, which most of our applications use to prevent passwords from being sent across the wire. Safari only allowed for Basic Authentication which sends passwords in plaintext unless using SSL for the entire site. Safari for 10.4 changed that so the apps work now for people that paid for the upgrade. Everything worked fine, it was a complete functional version of Tiger. Apple and Intel didn't include any black magic in the hardware. It only takes a certain level of CPU and chipset and this build would work. I never said I didn't have experience, I said that I had a lot of experience with 8 and 9 in school. We had OSX on a G4 at my last company. We dual booted 9 and X for testing of apps, I used it fair amount, but didn't use it for daily tasks because well, we were writing our apps in .NET. You are putting words in my mouth and I don't appreciate it. I've used a number of things some extensively, others casually. I'm not a complete Apple hater, I have an iPod, and I think competition is needed in the environment so that everything gets better. Is MS perfect, no, of course not, if they were we'd still be running DOS 1. Is Apple perfect? They keep coming out with new stuff, so clearly there are things to improve upon. I like the way Apple is going. They have finally done away with the proprietary processor technology and are using an instruction set better designed for PC tasks. Their big push for home wireless technology was great. I think I had an airport first because it was cheaper than the Lucent stuff, but the airport had the same lucent chips on the inside so I was happy. They have helped the music and video industries to start pushing technology digitally. You put Apple up on this pedestal like they do things different than the other tech companies. They don't, they use commodity hardware now on the inside. They don't have some fancy apple only proc designed for this apple only software like they used to. Adobe drank the Kool-Aid years ago and stopped working only with Apple on the instruction set. I remember when Photoshop 4 came out with support for Intel's MMX technology, that was interesting. It was the point when finally graphics software was supposed to work on Windows now. If you wanted to do some photo editing you didn't have to buy a Mac. You could do it all on one system now. With OSX today they advertise the ability to run Windows on your Mac. They now have made it easy to run their competitors software, but still won't let their competitor run theirs. I think that is a load of crap, but I understand why. They need to make money off their hardware sales because the OS sales alone can't do it. MS has large contracts and doesn't have any hardware to sell. They don't stop you from running Vista or XP in boot camp because they get the same amount of money either way. > -----Original Message----- > From: Dave l [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2007 11:36 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Re: New MacBook Pro 15! > > "So yes, you can get OSX to install on any intel based system.
