I didn't mean to get into a debate defending the policy. I just thought it was interesting and pretty realistic for a change.
Evidently someone high up involved in making policy thinks its not worth getting tortured. Not to say there isn't intel worth trying to protect, but I guess they figure most guys will crack anyways so why not save a few cracked ribs, or worse...
