I'm with Robert on this one. The law regarding the legal immigration
of *workers* hasn't been touched in over 20 years and the law should
serve the people which, in this case, it's clearly not. Let's take
the 3 cases:

(1.) Those that illegally immigrate to work. Sure, they work for
roofing companies, for example. There's no way an employer is going
to hire an illegal when there are plenty of legal workers available
for the job and this bill makes that all the more painful: $5000 per
worker. If I"ve got a company that competes with another who's using
illegals to keep price down, I'm gonna turn the guy in. We need hard
workers and our borders should be open to anyone willing to work at a
job that doesn't have a worker.

(2.) Those that illegally immigrate to commit crimes. They're going
to anyway, and this bill does nothing to help them.

(3.) Those that already illegally immigrated and are working. Clearly
we need them. This law will have them admit that broke the law and
pay a penalty for it while still allowing them to "become legit",
something that benefits everyone.

The law, in general, should incent people to work for a living and
this one does that. It will free up our border guards to focus more
on criminals while giving America hard working citizens and that's a
good thing.
