In a perfect world this would be the case, but it is not.

(1.) Those that illegally immigrate to work. Sure, they work for
roofing companies, for example. There's no way an employer is going
to hire an illegal when there are plenty of legal workers available
for the job and this bill makes that all the more painful: $5000 per
worker. If I"ve got a company that competes with another who's using
illegals to keep price down, I'm gonna turn the guy in. We need hard
workers and our borders should be open to anyone willing to work at a job
that doesn't have a worker.

Not true. Lots of these employees will still hire illegals because they are
working for less money. That does not translate to us saving money; it
translates to the contractor making more money because he is paying less per
"employee". Sure they take the risk of the competition turning them in, but
I am sure that the competition is doing the same thing.

(2.) Those that illegally immigrate to commit crimes. They're going to
anyway, and this bill does nothing to help them.

I agree with this, which is why we need to redouble our efforts on keeping
people out. You know that news of this has already hit Mexico and if we
start watching, I am sure they are going to see a steady stream of folks
heading north. Do this, use the illegals we find to help build a wall to
keep others out, then grand them citizenship for helping. Silly idea I know
but seriously, we need to do way more to keep folks out.

(3.) Those that already illegally immigrated and are working. Clearly
we need them. This law will have them admit that broke the law and
pay a penalty for it while still allowing them to "become legit",
something that benefits everyone.

Yeah, they are working illegally, which means they are not paying taxes, but
are using some of the same social benefits that we citizens are entitled to.
And how many of these "fine" folks have 5G's to throw around for fine? Have
you been to some of the areas these guys live? I guarantee that they do not.
And what guarantee to we have that after they receive their Z visa and have
been here for 8 years that they are going to return to Mexico or wherever
they are from and file the proper papers for their green card? We cannot
keep up with folks that are here on expired student/worker/tourist visas
now. I am not buying it. Looks like political posturing to me.

The law, in general, should incent people to work for a living and
this one does that. It will free up our border guards to focus more on
criminals while giving America hard working citizens and that's a good
thing.

I agree that the law should give folks reason to want to come here. But
there are too many holes in this one.
