As for attacks "on US soil", that's a fairly narrow definition. Why exclude
terrorist attacks where Americans were killed?

- Khobar Towers
- USS Cole
- Embassy bombings in Africa
- CIA employees shot at Langley

I'm probably missing a few, but that's quite a list right there.

As for Gruss' contention that the Clinton years were peaceful, what about
Somalia? What about the Balkans? Even though Clinton chose not to fight back
in a big way against the terrorist threat, there were still several years of
conflict in which US troops were deployed overseas. My brother was in
Croatia. What that not a legitimate war?
