You're quite right about BK just being a "chip" :-)

It's owned by Diageo (NYSE:DEO) which was a merger of Grand Metropolitan and
Guinness (the brewer). They're almost exclusively an alcoholic-beverage
company now - Seagram, Smirnoff, etc. (Hey Eri*K*a, they make Captain
Morgan!)

Burger King was owned by Pillsbury. Diageo acquired Pillsbury, they spun it
off to General Mills. They are now working on spinning off Burger King into
a separate business by 2003. In fact, BK is seeking new franchises again,
after years of basing their growth on increased sales at existing units.
