I'm calling BS here...
I regularly take out frustrations on a punching bag in a cardio kickboxing
class... It's insanely cathartic. And I'm as calm as a Buddhist monk when
I'm done.

The idea is to focus your frustrations on the bag, and use the excess brain
power to solve your problems....

BTW: Withdrawl sucks.... I've been there... not with cigs.
It will get better. Hang in there.

Just to throw in: something like a punching bag generally won't help with
actual hostile feelings. The idea that you can "get it all out" on a bag
(or a pillow or a doll or whatever) is pretty much a myth: in actual fact
you maintain anger longer and actually increase the violent drive ("stoking
the fire" as it were).

If you MUST hit something then a bag is good idea, but it won't calm you
down. And beating a bag until your plain exhausted solves the problem in
another way.

Unfortunately the best way to control anger is to just calm down - easier
said than done. Listen to music, take a walk (or a swim or a run), look at
pictures of basset hound puppies.

In this case tho' it doesn't sound like you're REALLY upset - you're in
withdrawal. Honestly I'd just let everybody around you that you'll be hell
on wheels for a while until it works through. Apologize profusely and often
in advance and weather the storm.

I agree with Dana completely tho' - just go cold turkey. The only addiction
remaining to me is food... damn I wish I go cold turkey from that.
Ummmmmmmm. Cold Turkey....
