It's really the second part which takes care of the anger.  You can get 
the same effect from meditation, or running, or whatever.  The beating 
of the bag (man, that sounds wrong phrased like that) is a focus and a 
way to reduce the *immediate* effects of anger, but in and of itself 
doesn't do much in the long run.
