Any of you McCainites able to explain why McCain is lining up behind the President on shooting down providing larger benefits to service people?
It remains baffling to me why any serviceperson would support a president who sends them off to an ill planned war, poorly equipped, rejects expanded benefits, removes or suspends the ones they have, but talks a big game. It's like a steak restaurant that tells you how much they love quality steak and then they serve you diseased gruel. Nobody seems to be able to explain it. ---------- Proponents of the veterans' education funds may have benefited from the coincidental timing of a Pentagon audit released yesterday, that found almost none of the $8.2 billion in taxpayer money spent by the Army on contractors in Iraq "followed federal rules and that in some cases, contracts worth millions of dollars were paid for despite little or no record of what, if anything, was received," as the Times reports. "There is something very wrong when our wounded troops have to fill out forms in triplicate for meal money while billions of dollars in cash are handed out in Iraq with no accountability," said Rep. Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Debate on the veterans funding and the wider spending bill will shift back to the House next week, where Democratic leaders will have to deal with the Senate's decision to remove a tax increase on upper-income people -- something conservative House Democrats demanded to pay for the veterans-education funding, as The Wall Street Journal notes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;192386516;25150098;k Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:260620 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
