Well, my struggles with this crappy Dell system continue. It's been pretty
unstable for months now, randomly throwing BSOD errors and most recently caused
my entire email inbox to disappear. Thankfully I'm obsessive about backing up
so have yet to have any real data loss that I couldn't recover, but it's only a
matter of time. It just happens so rarely (maybe once a week) that I've just
shrugged it off in the interest of being up and working, but I've decided
however long I need to be down to determine the problem, I'll just need to do
it. So after a day and a half spent making doubly sure everything is fully
backed up and then spending over 2 days running all the Dell Diagnostics (with
two 500 gig drives, the HD ones in particularly take FOREVER to run!) I still
have no idea what is wrong. Dell wants me to just wipe the system clean and
reinstall everything from scratch but I hate the idea of spending all that time
only to most likely have the same problem appear again (if it is indeed an
underlying HW issue as I suspect it is) but not sure what else to do at this
point. So anyone have any other thoughts on what I should do to try and figure
this out? I'm running my two HDs in a RAID 1 configuration (mirrored), and
currently still on XP Pro SP2.
