Hmm for what it is worth in the A+ curriuculum they teach that random wierd errors often have to do with the power supply, and I don't see you mentioning that you have ruled this out. It would probably be cheap to get a spare part from your local mom and pop computer repair shop to test this, if your location has one. I am thinking the $40 range tho I could be wrong -- didn't look anything up. Also -- forgive me if this seems incredibly obvious and is something you have already done -- check to make sure that everything is properly seated.
