So why is a Jewish guy waxing poetic about crab etc.? Have to admit that as a kid, my parents never even told me what Kosher *was*, let alone observed any of the dietary laws. I grew up in San Francisco on Chinese food, crab, cheeseburgers, etc. without even knowing it was against either Biblical Kosher or the Orthodox interpretation.
FYI to a large part of the list - Biblical Kosher mainly says "no pork, no shellfish, no mixing meat and dairy at the same meal. The Orthodox have much stricter rules.
