I do that a lot. I've really really been hoping that Obama would pull out a moment from Blazing Saddles during a debate and say "Where's all the white women at?" > I would much prefer to see an economic stimulus plan that pushes job > creation for small business. I take a "first do no harm" approach though. As the economy deteriorates and job losses mount, we need to make sure that basic needs are met. Nothing fancy here. I'm just want to make sure that people, as much as possible, are able to eat and have a place to live. We have to make sure that the basic safety net is in place. After that, I do agree with you about economic stimulus for job creation, especially in small business. Regarding the tax hikes and cap gains tax on high income tax brackets, I'm not sure. I don't want them to be taxed to the point where there is no reason for them to work at the jobs they are. People should be rewarded for work. On the other hand, this is going to require sacrifice from people in all income brackets. People at the top income brackets have more wiggle room for safety than people down at the bottom. How much of the financial effort we need as a country should be financed via debt versus taxes? Even if we got out of Iraq right now, that would just reduce the rate of debt we are incurring. There are other areas we could cut some spending, but we are talking overall some pretty good sized numbers needed. So what's the mix?
