I think the nation of today is beyond anything the founders could have
conceived, and their opinions, much like the Bible, are only quoted
for the convenience when the speaker is at a lost for empirical
evidence with which to prove a point.  The government, for
generations, has taken our money and distributed it according to
arbitrary and capricious desires of the petty tyrants and corporate
overlords.

If I must pay taxes, as it appears I must, I would rather the money go
to feed the hungry and aid the sick and needy, than to oil company
profits, weapons manufacturers and war mongers.

I am much more concerned about preserving my first amendment rights,
than some possibly violation by congress of the tenth amendment.  The
states have proven themselves incompetent to manage even those
programs over which they exercise control.  Draconian drug laws, the
abysmal failure of education, the decrepitude of intra-state
infrastructure, etc, etc.. ad nauseum, ad infinitum.
