Yup, that's about it.  Course this is a GREAT reason to use internet
pseudonyms :)

That's why lots of people who are real track nuts will have 5+ year
old cars that are heavily modded.

If you buy newer cars, you can get to the know the car before you take
it off-warranty; especially if you lease.

When I got an S4 5 years ago I thought I was going to be at the track
pretty much daily; well I didn't go once and that was more because of
cost and time than warranty, but that was a concern too.

What I realized was that if was going to be a track guy, I wanted a
dedicated track car that wouldn't be my daily driver.

But more than that, I realized that as a daily driver I REALLY enjoyed
something that could be a track car and that was my top priority.

Unfortunately right now I have neither.  But I did just acquire a 1994
Chevy Suburban.

Maybe someday that can tow a track car.
