Yep. One of my friends bought a 97 M3 in 2003ish, gutted it out, added roll cage and whatnot, races it every weekend now. Adds a few things every few months to it. I've been to a couple of BMW Club meetups with him. It really is the best time. And I have yet to even drive (have to be certified), I just ride along with instructors. 6-10 20 minute ride along sessions is incredibly exhausting, BTW. Someday I will have that extra 15K around to just throw at a hobby like that.
