Was the shooter a law-abiding citizen who follows the law, or someone who,
if a gun control law were enacted, would simply ignore it? If he was the
latter, then *any* law along these lines would have zero effect on the
problem, but instead cause a whole new problem by disarming those who have
the right to protect themselves.

Because when the shit hits the fan, you won't be able to defend your home
with Grandpa's 20-ga. Double-barreled shotgun, or that old revolver your
mother gave you back when. Come to my neighborhood and I'll show you. Just
had a gang shooting next to my backyard two weeks ago while my daughter was
out there.

Which makes you one of the truly intelligent and responsible people whom I
respect and admire. If you ever want to have a private conversation about
this then please feel free to contact me offlist. I would be honored.

You know, I have a plan for responsible gun ownership and crime control that
I bet my life would work like gangbusters (pun intended). Remember my
discussion of this some months ago? I'm going to mention it on change.gov
right now.
