How so? It's a 2 clause sentence. Clause 1 A militia is necessary to a free state, clause 2 because of clause one the government may make no laws about guns, period the end, plain English.
I've read what the men that wrote, fought for and ratified this amendment meant. I know for a fact what they meant, what they intended. I can and have linked, quoted and pointed to these same texts time and again, anyone, anyone that believes that gun laws on any level are constitutional hasn't read their history, hasn't read the framers, or is fooling themselves, or doesn't care about the intention of the constitution. I don't have a problem with being close minded on certain issues. This is one of them. It is no longer open for debate. The court has found there is an individual right there. > -----Original Message----- > From: Jerry Johnson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, November 12, 2008 1:11 PM > To: cf-community > Subject: Re: questions from the gun control thread > > And you see absolutely no way for a reasonable person to read > that differently? > > _That_ is about as close-minded an attitude as I have seen in > a long time, even with all this election junk going on. > > > On Wed, Nov 12, 2008 at 1:08 PM, Loathe <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > I know it wasn't but what I wrote says the same thing.
