I'm Jewish because I was born of a Jewish mother. I'm also Jewish because I've
accepted the 'yoke' of the Torah. Pesach Latin is Jewish because he has accepted the
commandments though he was not born of a Jewish mother. Beth was born of a Jewish
mother and is Jewish despite her choice to accept or not accept the Torah.
Think of it as a default state. What your born as is what you are until you accept a
different 'state'. Pesach accepted a different state and is now Jewish. Beth has not
accepted a different state and is Jewish. Spinoza (a poet) converted to Christianity
and accepted a different state. He overwrote his variable. :)
