I never said people weren't stupid. ;) There are _plenty_ of stupid people out there, and they are members of _all_ the religions, as well as athiests and agnostics. Just because you are in a religion doesn't mean you are going to be any more intelligent. ;) > So someone is responsible for the good..but they're not > If WE are responsible for what we do, then why when something GOOD > happens don't we say thank XYA that DID the good thing. Why > is it Thank > God?? Um, I don't think you OR I speak for everyone, so your argument doesn't make sense. I know if you were to buy me a beer, I would thank you. If a plane were to crash two streets over from my house, but not ON my house, I would thank God. Do I think God pushed the plane away from my house? No. Do I think God was punishing the people a few blocks over (well, he SHOULD punish the ones that get drunk on the weekends and forget how to speak quietly at 3am ;) - no. I simply thank God that I am alive. If I were to die, or someone close ot me, I wouldn't blame him either. But again, I speak for myself, and no one else. > I think WE are responsible for most things. And WE can make > this earth a > heaven, and WE choose to make it a sort of Purgatory for the > majority of > people living on earth. And a Hell for the unfortunate others. I agree 100%. That doesn't mean I can't believe in God. The whole "Why does God let bad things happen argument" is a bit trivial I think. > God is responsible for the good..but not for the bad? Jesus is > responsible for all the good done in his name, but not for > the evil that > men do because of interpretations of his words? Right. But, you know from my emails to MD how i feel on this. > IF he were not there and we did not have the notion of punishment and > reward...what then? If there were NO religion and no belief in some > central higher figure that punishes or rewards us..would things be > different then? > Of course things would be different. But would they be better or worse? I think you would say better, I would say worse. Yes, bad things happen in the name of religion, but bad things also happen in the name of love. -rc ______________________________________________________________________ Get the mailserver that powers this list at http://www.coolfusion.com Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists
