Whether he'd dream of it or not wouldn't matter - he can't - it's in the hands of Republicans. The recount, triggered by MN State law, is being run by a Republican Governor Pawlenty's appointees. The same Governor, BTW, that was #2 in line for the VP nod from John McCain. By Minnesota law, representation must include two Minnesota Supreme Court justices, two district court judges and the board is chaired by the Secretary of State. Canvass board members named are Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric J. Magnuson (appointed by Rep Gov Pawlenty) and Justice G. Barry Anderson (also appointed by Gov Pawlenty). Chief Judge Kathleen R. Gearin and Assistant Chief Judge Edward J. Cleary have also been tapped from the Second Judicial District to serve on the board. Ritchie made his selections based upon recommendations made by Chief Justice Magnuson and Chief Judge Gearin. BOTTOM LINE: The MN recount was triggered by MN State Law and is being run by Republicans.
