NPR had a great series on health care in Europe last summer. I suggest that it
reading and listening to the series may help everyone in understanding some of
the issues and the comparisons with different health care systems.

perhaps a Canadian single payer system, or a two-tiered system like Britain's
may not be appropriate for the US. Its possible that a mix of mandatory private
insurance through an association, be it employer related, professional,
neighbourhood or state level, could be a far better fit for the US. Everyone
gets a certain minimum level of coverage, then depending on your health care
association you get more and or more comprehensive care.
