Geithner was the architect of the original AIG bailout in the Fall. As late as last month, Obama had an opportunity to have these bonus payments curtailed when Treasury gave AIG another $30 billion, but Chris Dodd put in an amendment to the stimulus bill that allowed the bonuses to go forward, and Obama signed it.
