So who dies? I know of one case where a 60 year old guy is on Medicare. He has
almost no pension and survives mostly on Medicare and other new deal programs.
Are you willing to tell him to his face that he ought to die so you get a few
more dollars?

this weekend I helped out at a group home for mentally handicapped adults. All
of them are beneficiaries of welfare and Medicare. They live relatively
independent lives because of these New Deal programs. Are you willing to tell
them that they have to go into over crowded dirty and dangerous state
institutions just so that you get some extra pocket change?

How about programs like WIC and other forms of food aid? They help keep those
in need fed and help them be healthier than if that aid did not exist. Are you
willing to tell children that they must starve in order for you to buy your $5
latte every morning?

Nice to see there is still compassion in the world.

The point is that we are not just individuals but live in a community. Part of
the price is help taking care of those who are in need of help. At least that's
the idea and its generally agreed upon, except usually by those who are so
wrapped up in themselves that they cannot see beyond their noses.
