I think you misunderstood, which is not unusual. I want more choice.

1.) Choice makes US healthcare a winner.

In some sense. We have 100's, if not 1000's, of specialty hospital with
great doctors. We have many clinical trials that extend treatment beyond
the normal course.

2.) Choice makes US healthcare a loser.

I didn't say that.

3.) We should have more choice.

I didn't say that. I said that I wonder if there were more choices for
insurance, if things wouldn't run better. That is, would competition make
health care better. You must not have noticed the "?"'s.

4.) We should have less choice.

I didn't say that. Reading Comprehension much?

5.) Employers should offer more choice.

Definitely, if possible. I am not sure they can with government regulations
and such.
I think lack of insurance choice hurts US healthcare. Most workers are
pigeon holed into choosing the insurance company that their employer
offers. It the insurer sucks, too bad.

"Oh also, socialized medicine is a looming threat but we should have more US
standardization."

I just asked if there was a baseline for medical insurance coverage. I
don't know if there is. I think there should be. In my not so humble
opinion, I think the minimum should be the that same medicare or medicaid
offers. There is no way someone living off taxpayer money should get more
health benefits than the people paying for it. If a private plan wants to
offer more perks to separate itself from the competition, more power to
them.

"I'm pretty sure that the program I saw on PBS a few months ago made it seem
like the US wasn't better than what you can find in other countries. Better
than some, maybe, but there were plenty that had a
lower cost and higher quality... no linky tho, so the metrics... well, eh."

If you have ever had a seriously ill friend or relative, you have probably
spent a lot of time at the hospital. The number of foreigners who come to
America for treatment, especially for their children is pretty amazing.
While some countries may have good standard care, I don't believe they can
match the specialists that the US offers. Also, consider the source. The
People's Broadcast Service probably leans a little towards the left.
