I had a broken arm misdiagnosis as a bone bruise for two months, even after
x-rays.

I went out of my insurance doctors and paid $150 to see a orthopedic which
saw the fracture clearly on the xray. He took additional xrays, in different
angles, and the fracture was even more pronounced.

I went back to my original doctor and orthopedic with the new xrays and his
report... Needless to say, I had them by the left nut and the right nut.
Good thing, no permanent damage.

Dropped the HMO and went to a PPO. Never looked back since.

When my doctor was trying to diagnose my problem, one of the
pathologists made the statement "when we see hoof prints, we look for
horses, not zebras". To which my doc replied "if you see zebra poop
all over the yard, and there is a zoo next door, you might wanna look
for a zebra." Meaning, of course, that the problem wasn't a common
illness, and looking at common causes wasn't helping.

We've had four people die in our immediate family from medical
incompetence and mis-diagnosis. Frankly, I think doctors or nurses
who cause death of the patient due should be charged with murder.
