I'm just venting my frustrations while tweaking a potential blog post.
Ignore if you want.

I'm really contemplating a blog post about how slighted I feel about not
being invited to the cfml advisory committee. I was on past committees and
we did a lot for the direction of the language. I've done a lot to support
the language. So why was I not chosen? 3 reasons. frameworks, oop, and blog
posts.
I stopped blogging a while ago after being attacked over my views on
altering a framework for a client. They needed speed and an alteration of
the framework was the only way to go. I told people about it and the
firestorm was insane. I took it badly. Strike one for not blogging since.
I'm not a framework guy as I feel they are overused and can be an
unnecessary bottleneck. Too much going on to be really useful in many cases.
An app should be tight, not tight sitting on another layer, no matter how
tight it is. Strike two for not going with the framework always flow.
OOP is fine and good as a concept but being bound to it in all places, ways
and times is insane. Use the parts that are useful and ignore the rest.
Evaluate what you need when you needed. Strike three for not following the
true OO religion.

Do I expect this to change anytime soon? Nope. When I expressed my feelings
to someone on the committee I was told that they wanted to keep it small
while they were doing their job. Ouch. Another hit to me which results in my
lethargic-ness in posting new concepts and ideas. I've got a ton of articles
just sitting in Google Docs almost ready to roll which I never released just
because I never felt I should. I've got a ton of tiny code snippets that
seem so simple when you see them yet few would think of them because they
are so simple. But why bother. Simple is not what gets someone somewhere.
It's big, complex, obfuscated code that gets you the girls, fame, and
fortune. Until I get a fast chat from someone who needs a single line of
code to make his whole application work. But still, who cares.
And whining about not being included will not change anything and will
actually go far in making sure I'm never on the committee if/when they add
more members.

Yeh, it needs to be reordered and cleaned up but it basically has the
concepts. Venting does more harm than good, especially when done before a 2
day, no internet holiday. But how much lower can my 'stock' fall?
