Of course not. Those would be petty reasons. Past service, demonstrated knowledge, and seeing things from a different angle than most are not reasons either. I guess it really is just lack of room and keeping the committee tight. If I knew what the criteria was and how I failed to meet it then maybe I wouldn't feel so slighted.
