I can tell you one thing. I drive a HUGE station wagon. 1989 Pontiac 
Safari. It's like a boat. When I drive it, I feel protected (although it's 
really tough finding parking sometimes. : ) ) Not that I would EVER expect 
to hit something, but the point is, if G-d forbid I did get into an 
accident, I know there's 5 feet of strong metal (and a really strong 
bumper) between me and the site of impact. Somehow this makes me feel safer.
