To an extent, perhaps. But if Barack Obama was able to overcome additional
hardships that are in place in this country because he is black, and still
achieve the highest office in the land....that doesn't mean that those
hardships should not then be removed.

Put another way, racism isn't dead in 21st century USA just because we have
a black president. It's a sign of progress, but it should not be an excuse
to turn a blind eye to very real instances of racial bigotry that still
occurr in America today.

"Barack Obama" is not a valid excuse to dismiss claims of racial inequality
when they come up.
