Well Erika did better job than I of describing the concept, but to focus your point I'm not sure I understand it. I won't get into the definitions argument of "commodity" (btw, the airlines don't consider their services a commodity and by historical definition, given it's a service, its not). But assuming we can define services as commodities, for example an economy class flight to miami is mostly the same, how is knee surgery different? Or let's say I'm unsure if I need a will or not so I hire a lawyer to advise me. How is that different than going to a doctor to advise me on my health? Or a financial adviser to advise me on my financial health? Business advice, legal advice, medical advice ... all seem like commodity services to me. After all, cosmetic surgeries like nose jobs and boob jobs are basically commodities right? So how would elective knee surgery be different? I have a bum shoulder, but I've elected to weight lift rather than have surgery. The weight set I own is basically a commodity and I use it for treatment of my shoulder so does that now make it not a commodity? In short I'm not getting distinction. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
