I lived and taught college in the central Florida area for eight years. The impact of the space program the economy there is enormous. I get really irritated at people who complain about the cost of science and exploration, as if we are somehow putting the money in a box and shooting it into space. For the most part however, these same people don't complain at all about cost of war and weapons.
