Maureen, Its not just about the United State, although to a great extent it is. Chavez does support an active terrorist group based in Columbia that uses cocaine smuggling and kidnapping to support its aims. The FARC has been implicated in numerous atrocities since the 970's. That lap top recovered from the FARC in Venezuelan territory (OK about 50 or so yards across the border) showed that Chavez personally ordered arms and equipment given to the FARC. Chavez aides have significant ties to Columbian and Venezualan drug smuggling cartels. These are the same groups who move billions of dollars of crack cocaine into the US. So to say that he is not a threat to this country is simply ignoring the evidence.
