Regarding "the left's" general view of Christianity, it's rather dim and negative. I base this on the fact that the big name organizations that support the left are actively campaigning for anti-Christian agendas, such as atheism, abortion, communism same sex marriage, etc. Do you think that the religious leaders of the past would embrace these things like the current members of their party? As far as Jesus being a socialist? He wasn't an "ist." He preached about taking care of widows and orphans, but not by the government... that was the job of the individual.
