I should note, that I have not seen the earth from space (at night, or otherwise) with my own eyes (so to speak), so it could just be "sexed up" data. Maybe I should add that "sexed up" data is how we get these awesome pictures of stuff in deep space. The raw data doesn't look anything like my desktop background.
